Upper Reaches FoI request

We have had a reply to our FoI request.

Dear Abingdon First,

 I write in respect of your recent request for information under the Environmental Information Regulations (15/692):

 ·        Could someone please advise as to who owns the Upper Reaches hotel and restaurant, Abingdon, and also the land (car park) at this address.
The land is owned freehold by the Vale Council and is let on a long term lease to Caparo Hotels Ltd.

 ·        We have been led to believe that Caparo Hotels originally had a long term lease, and that the Vale of White Horse owns the land,  but that possibly Cranbourne Homes (or one of their many subsidiaries) have bought the lease and own it now?
As above.  The lease is still vested in Caparo Hotels Ltd and has not been assigned to anyone else.

 ·        Has this land been sold?
No.  The land is owned by the Vale Council and has not been sold.

 ·        We would very much like to know if this will be turned into luxury flats (Old Gaol 2) and if so, WHY has this developer been allowed to purchase this when they have still not paid for the fiasco that was the Old Gaol. (Original price reduced 3 times and still not completed/paid for!)
This question does not fall within the scope of the Environmental Information Regulations, however for information as stated above the lease is vested with Caparo Hotels and has not been sold.
